A little about Esquires Coffee.
Esquires Coffee opened on King Street in 2025, bringing its artisan café to the heart of Saffron Walden. The store was designed with everyone in mind, from commuters grabbing a morning coffee to remote workers settling in for the day and families visiting at weekends. There's open seating for groups, plenty of plug sockets for anyone working, and quieter corners for those looking for a calm spot.
The coffee is 100% organic and Fairtrade certified, and the drinks menu also includes ethically sourced loose leaf teas, matcha and chai lattes, iced drinks, real fruit smoothies and milkshakes. The food menu is prepared fresh each day, from breakfasts such as eggs Benedict, pancake stacks, porridge and avocado toast through to deli sandwiches, bagels, toasties and jacket potatoes at lunchtime. Pastries are baked in store daily, and there are plant-based and gluten-free options too, as well as a kids' menu.
The atmosphere is relaxed and cosy, with background music and plants hanging from the ceiling, and customers regularly praise the friendly, attentive staff. Dogs are welcome, and there are even free dog treats for four-legged visitors.
