Saffron Grange is a family-run vineyard on the outskirts of Saffron Walden, producing premium quality English sparkling wines. The vineyard sits on the same chalk seam that runs from northern France's renowned wine regions through Sussex and into Essex, giving it ideal conditions for growing exceptional grapes.

Guided tours and tastings run throughout the year. In summer, you'll take a gentle stroll through the vines, learning about the land's history, its unique soil and the care that goes into every harvest, before relaxing with a tasting of the latest releases while taking in panoramic views of the north-west Essex countryside. Winter tours offer a behind-the-scenes look at the resting vineyard and the winery, where you'll learn how the wines are made. Both can be finished with delicious cheese, charcuterie or grazing boards chosen to pair with the wines.

During the summer months, the vineyard also hosts relaxed weekly events, including Sundowners and Winedown Sundays. You can also book a tasting flight in the shop and tasting room, or buy wines online.

A few things to know before you go: tours and tastings are for adults only, though babes in arms are welcome. Well-behaved dogs on a short lead are welcome too. The terrain is grassy, sloping and uneven in places, so it isn't suitable for wheelchair users. Tours run in most weathers, so dress for the conditions.
